FLIC Inaugural Luncheon will rock Mechanic’s Hall with over 300 people and a phenomenal program on Friday, November 30

WORCESTER, MA.  _ One of New England’s most recognized news personalities, Liz Walker from CBS, will be introducing one of America’s most familiar female women’s rights activist, Gloria Steinem on Friday, Nov. 30, at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.

Steinem will be the keynote speaker for the Inaugural Trailblazing Luncheon of the Female Leadership Interest Council (FLIC).

“We are thrilled that our Inaugural Luncheon will be taking place in two short days and look forward to welcoming over 300 women from the region to the first of many exciting events we have planned for the future,” said FLIC Founder, Deborah Penta.

“Gloria Steinem remains one of America’s most influential and respected trailblazers and thanks to her work, FLIC has a significant opportunity to blaze a big trail for women looking to achieve greater success in life and in business,” Penta said.

“Steinem has helped women make great progress, and we would not be in a position to have an organization like FLIC, which has a mission of helping women achieve stronger leadership roles, without the meaningful work of women like Gloria. FLIC will help women from all walks of life with invaluable mentoring experiences,” she continued.

Steinem will discuss the power of mentoring, her personal life journey her views on the women’s movement now and where she sees it going in the future, Penta said.

Steinem founded Ms. Magazine, the first national magazine run by women. She also was the co-founder of New York Magazine, as well as the co-founder of the National Women’s Caucus. She was inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 1993. In 1998, she was inducted into the American Society of Magazine Editors with Hugh Hefner of Playboy and Bryon Dobell, former editor of American Heritage, Esquire, New York and Life Magazines.

There will also be a table at the event that will be hosted by representatives from the Women’s Craft Collaborative, a women-run “business” from Rosie’s Place of Boston. Rosie’s Place in Boston provides shelter and social services for homeless women in Boston.

“They will be selling jewelry and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the community at Rosie’s Place,” Penta said.

“Gloria Steinem believes in our mission and we could not think of a more perfect person to open our Trailblazing luncheon.” Penta said.
